NATURE ART
Artist: Andy Goldsworthy
In this art project you will create an environmental art piece by collecting and arranging materials found in nature. You will need to gather materials from your environment to help demonstrate balance, contrast, line, shape, etc.
Take a relaxing hike with your family or go in your backyard and pick up potential materials for your artwork.
MATERIALS EXAMPLES: Pine cones, dirt, sand, sticks, rocks, leaves, flowers, grass, twigs.
Now that you have your natural materials, try to arrange them into a shape on the ground. You can arrange them in ANY shape. Try making the shape symmetrical, or the same on BOTH sides. Notice the colors you are using. What if you made a pattern with your materials? Can you make your sculpture stand up on its own?
Let’s reflect!
How was using natural materials different from using traditional art supplies? Did you like it?
What materials did you use?
Take photos of your amazing artwork and upload it to Instagram. Mrs. Hertz will try to re-post your art to her account!
