Elaborate visual information by adding details in an artwork to enhance emerging meaning
Materials:
-glue
-construction paper
-painted paper in green shades (the previous class uses greens, blues and yellows to paint construction paper in shades of green. Students use texture tools to create designs in the paint)
-scissors
-watercolors
-watercolor paper

Lesson Plan for three weeks:
1st day: Intro Henri Rousseau and his artwork depicting jungle scenes. Show images of jungle animals; snakes, frogs, leopards, tigers, bats, etc. Class consists of a guided drawing of four animals: cheetah, monkey, tiger, and tucan. Students can add more animals and then watercolor each animal on their paper.
2nd Class: Intro about collage. Students learn to cut, rip, and glue paper. Students cut and glue their animals onto their blue construction paper background. Students use scissors to cut living and nonliving things such as rocks, leaves, trees and vines from paper. You can add a mini lesson about symmetry: fold a green paper in half, draw one side of a leaf shape, cut on the line and open the paper to reveal a perfectly symmetrical leaf.
3rd Class: Students add final touches to artwork such as rocks, vines, other animals or amphibians. Students can use oil pastels to add a sun, rain, waterfall, or other small details.
